Baseball technically opened up last week in Japan…but I don’t count that. Baseball kicked off last night with Ryan Zimmerman hitting a walk off home run in the beautiful new Nationals Stadium. And today it’s officially on with a full slate of games across the league.
So with that, I’m ready to make my picks for the season. Without further ado…
NL East: Mets
NL Central: Cubs
NL West: Dodgers
NL Wild Card: Phillies
AL East: Red Sox
AL Central: Indians
AL West: Angels
AL Wild Card: Tigers
World Series: Cubs over Indians (the world as we know it will end!)
A new story in the New York Times describes how Microsoft has struck a deal with Peter Safran who runs his Safran Company. The two companies will soon produce original shows that will be available on your Xbox LIVE. Safran’s company represents some good talent including my boy Diddy, and actor and writer Nia Vardalos of My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
The first shows will be approximately 10 minutes or shorter and will be scripted. Safran is also making a smart move by attempting to serve the 360 crowd by having the first round of shows be either comedy and horror.
To begin, the shows will be strictly for the 360 but in time they will go on to other mediums. I think this deal is only the beginning and I expect to see more original content for the 360 as time passes.
What wasn’t stated is how much Microsoft is going to charge for a bunch of non-ad supported shows. What would you pay and would you even watch?
If you don’t want to know about the achievement points that are going to be available for Grand Theft Auto IV then don’t read ahead or check out the GTA IV Acheivements and Descriptions.
Rockstar never fails to cause controversy and this edition of GTA is no different. The achievement where you get 50G for shooting a cop who’s just 2 days from his retirement is pretty nuts! You know this will cause tons of backlash from protestors!
On the site the press release says that the collectors edition will include NFL Head Coach 09. The site also has links to the new Head Coach videos and features.
What I found weird but intriguing is that it says “the countdown begins 4/5/08″. What does that countdown mean? Is it a countdown until they announce the cover boy? We’ll have to wait and see.
As for the Head Coach game, there are 2 new video for you to check out. One is just an overview of the game and the other one while the other gives details about the play creator. The vids are in HD and can be seen in the the media section of the website by clicking here.

You’ve probably already seen the Master Chief models that have built on Unreal Tournament 3 that’s being played on the PS3.
Business Week sure took notice and even took the time to tell us about it. They thought Sony might have a little problem on their hands but as it turns out…Microsoft could care less according to their attorney Dan McGowan. He even took the time to share his and Microsoft’s thoughts in his blog.
In what is easily the best part of the blog piece, he takes a hilarious shot at Sony saying “The developers aren’t selling the mod, they’re not monetizing Microsoft’s IP, they’re just creating something to share their love of the Master Chief on a new platform. And no one is taking characters from Playstation games (do they even have any games?) and putting them on our platform…”
