Unless you live in Canada, you probably don’t care, but the NHL playoffs are upon us and the good folks over at EA Sports have declared a winner of the Stanley Cup: the San Jose Sharks. Through in game simulation of NHL 08, EA has the Sharks taking out the Montreal Canadians in seven games to take the cup.
The Blackhawks are my team but since they’re probably already out sun bathing on an island somewhere I’ll have to pick somebody else to take it all. I watch a lot of sports, I mean a lot, but hockey isn’t one of them. But for what it’s worth…I got the Penguins vs the Sharks with Pittsburgh taking it in 6.
No doubt that 360’s rules the hardcore gaming market and its has an established “M-rated” user base, but grabbing or shall I say stealing the casual market will most likely win the war for Microsoft.
Question is, what do the gamers think? I personally think motion control is a gimmick and annoying. I guess you can say I’m old new-school. But I’ll admit that the addition of a new controller won’t hurt the industry or me as a gamer as long as they don’t force it down developers’ throats. What do the masses think?
If I didn’t read it myself I would have never believed it…but it’s true.
Some 27-year-old idiot named William Singalargh from New Zealand rifled a real life hedgehog at a 15-year-old boy because we he was getting his ass kicked in Hedgehog Golf. The poor little bugger who got hit was left with “a large, red welt and several puncture marks.”
In case you were wondering about the hedgehog, he died. I guess that’s how they roll in New Zealand!
For $100 you can get remote-control cam-glasses with a discreet, 1.3 megapixel camera built into the temple from ThinkGeek.
So long to places prohibiting you from taking pictures. As soon as some company can start making these cameras unnoticeable in any pair of eye glasses, nobody will be safe from discretion. It’s going to be wild and personally, it freaks me out a little bit. But what can I do……
It’s a debate that never has a clear cut answer or winner, especially with everyone here at World Gaming. People will always talk or actually argue about what’s the better console and who’s winning or losing the battle for supremacy.
Who gives a shit? I say to each his own. You play and use what you like. Who’s to say what’d better and what somebody else should prefer? It’s completely insane but if you Google ‘console wars’ you’ll find just over a million results ranging from articles, blogs, forums, and even YouTube videos with dopes talking about what’s the best console.
A complete waste of time if you ask me and I’m glad somebody high up in the video game industry is saying the same.
The top dog at THQ, Jack Sorenson, thinks the argument and comparisons are pointless as well. In a recent interview with GamesIndustry.biz Sorenson said there was ‘too much emphasis’ on who is winning the battle for best console. He went on to say “I think [the console war] is totally irrelevant. Even in the history of the business, other than something like the Dreamcast, you can do decent business on lots of platforms. So the issue is not who wins, it’s can an independent publisher do a good business on that platform. We’re thinking everything from high-end MMO all the way to cell phones.”
Personally I think the console wars are relatively pointless to argue about and I usually stay out of it, even though it’s great for World Gaming and it drives business throughout the industry. But I have to admit that the debate is somewhat relevant since the number of games and console sold always effect a certain system.
Now this is some wild stuff…some guy named Michael Hurt created what has to be the first watercooled Xbox 360.
I would think he’s totally mess this up (as would anybody) but I guess it works. I would have the first clue as to how the hell this is done (I can barely turn on my TV) but he clearly shows the holes he has put in the top of the console where he’s routed some cooling tubes.
This guy should win a Nobel Prize or some sort of award!

The patch all you baseball gamers have been waiting for FINALLY came out this morning. MLB 2K8 released their patch that will hopefully improve the terrible framerate of the game and fix the Padres lineup glitch in franchise mode that has driven people nuts since the games release.
No announcement has been made as to when or even if a fix is coming for the PS3. Can’t help but think that the patch was being work on before them game was even released because dropping one only a month after the original release of the game is really quick. Either way, the whole situation with the game has been a mess as I previously wrote about.
Check out the MLB 2K8 Forum to be more up to date with whats going on.
